Wireless Network Engineer (Field Sustaining Engineer) Boingo Wireless
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Boingo Wireless is searching for a talented, full time Wireless Network Engineer (WLAN Engineer) to test, certify, repair and maintain Boingo?s International Carrier Class Wi-Fi networks. Ideally candidates will possess Bachelor?s Degree in Computer/Network related studies and CWNE, CCIE, CCNA, and/or CCNP along with at least 7 years Wireless Engineering field experience.
Test, certify and accept new networks in accordance with defined performance standards.
Proactively looks for areas to improve overall WLAN performance. Finds and resolves system issues on the network by utilizing traditional and non-traditional means and proactively improves the network metrics.
Provide regular, detailed status reports on wireless performance at specific venues/sites. Documents test progress, challenges, results.
Diagnose, and troubleshoot network quality and performance issues and recommend proactive maintenance as needed.
Performs troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose wireless issues.
Develop process, procedures, and tools to aid field performance tests, and maintenance operations.
Collect and review user experience-based metrics and replicate user experience to improve performance and quality of WLAN.
Conducting in-depth RF path analysis, RF coverage analysis, interference detection and avoidance
Takes ownership of network projects, identifies and forges new processes to optimize network performance.
Typically manages multiple projects/tasks at a time with little or no supervision.
Documenting all change management and coordinating with NOC.
B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or minimum 7 years work experience with Enterprise Wireless Networks.
Cisco certs with 3 years? experience with Cisco based WLAN/LAN hardware.
Candidate should have strong interpersonal and communication skills ? oral, written. Strong analytical skills.
Highly skilled with: AP?s, client association, controllers, RF transmission , 802.11 standards, trunking, wireless sniffers, packet capturing,
WLC, Wi-Fi technologies and standards, Cisco IOS/WCS/NCS/LWAPP and ArubaOS/Airwave.
Working knowledge of RF Test/Survey Equipment: Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Frequency Counters, Power Meters, etc.
Computer proficiency with MS Office, MS Visio, Ekahau Site Survey, AirMagnet, DWG?s.
Ability to sort and resolve complex technical problems
Must be able to pass a 10-year background check to be issued a security badge for access to Airports, Military bases, etc. (Mandatory)
Nice To Haves:
Internet service provider protocols such as Radius, PPP, PPPoE are a plus.
Linux, Unix knowledge.
