THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED About Us
Xamarin is on a mission to make it fast, easy and fun to build great mobile apps. With offices in San Francisco and Boston, Xamarin was founded in May 2011 and is a very fast-growing VC funded startup. Already over 220,000 developers and thousands of customers (growing daily) use Xamarin because we provide the best platform to create great mobile apps for iOS, Android and Windows. Developers benefit by using their existing C# skills, tools, and from the ability to share code between platforms, while building fully native apps, without compromise.
Xamarin's goal is to create API documentation that is not only accurate and precise but that leads our users towards success. This requires boiling down text and example code to their essence, investigative programming to assure accuracy and precision, an enthusiasm for rapidly learning new technical libraries and APIs, and, above all, a dedication to user education.
Writing API documentation for a continually-evolving SDK is akin to "drinking the ocean," and the candidate must be comfortable working on an effectively endless task. All API documentation must be detail-oriented, but the candidate must additionally be comfortable shifting coverage depths, sometimes concentrating on rapidly summarizing an entire namespace's API and other times writing deep-dive guidance. The primary responsibility for this position is coverage for a large number of iOS APIs that have been identified as particularly important, as they are frequently used, tricky, or crucial to cross-platform development.
Candidates must be:
Excellent at writing concisely and precisely;
Very comfortable investigating and learning iOS APIs for which the only documentation is based on Objective C;
Very comfortable with rapid exploratory programming to validate behavior and illustrate techniques;
Focused on accuracy, precision, and consistency;
Responsible for independent work and time management;
Comfortable with command-line tools and scripting, "raw" XML editing, and basic git workflows.
Location preference is West Coast, remote is possible.
Competitive salary and benefits.
Solid stock in a VC-funded startup.
We offer 20 vacation days per year to all employees. We encourage you to actually take it.
We'll set you up with whatever hardware you need to do your best work. Macbook Airs and 27" iMacs are standard.
