THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED BACKGROUND
Placemark Investments is an investment advisory firm registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission,
managing $10.5 billion in assets on behalf of over 30,000 clients. The company is privately held, with 71 employees
located in Dallas, Texas and Wellesley, Massachusetts.
Placemark develops, implements, and supports wealth management solutions, including Unified Managed Account
platforms and retirement solutions for broker/dealers, registered investment advisors, banks, and family offices. As
the industry?s leading independent overlay portfolio manager, Placemark coordinates multiple investment vehicles
such as separately managed accounts, mutual funds, and ETFs into a single customized portfolio.
Placemark?s core mission is to fundamentally change the way that investment management services are delivered to
clients, fostering a more efficient operating model and delivering more sophisticated investment strategies to meet a
wider variety of client needs. We enable financial advisors, sponsors, and product providers (managers) to better
collaborate in delivering superior investment solutions to their clients. As a firm, Placemark seeks to foster an
entrepreneurial culture focused on exceeding customers? needs, accountability, innovation, and adding real value,
without compromising our integrity and respect for each other.
Much of the company?s business originates with broker/dealer sponsors for whom Placemark is acting as the overlay
manager in the sponsor?s proprietary UMA program. In addition, in 2010, Placemark developed and launched UMA
Marketplace, an open architecture UMA platform for independent advisors and managers seeking effective
distribution in the independent RIA market. UMA Marketplace (?UMAM?) is a key element of Placemark?s growth
plans for the next several years. Placemark believes that the retail investment management industry is in the early
stages of a period of significant product innovation. Efficient and flexible advisor access to these new products will be
a key element of customer portfolio construction. Combined with the continued trend towards advisor
independence, Placemark has concluded that there is a significant opportunity to deliver value by creating the most

advisors. UMA Marketplace is Placemark?s response to this emerging opportunity; linking advisors with managers in
a highly flexible and cost-effective manner.
