We design, develop and ship all of Pelican's deliverable software products and many internal tools as well. This is where the rubber hits the road - bringing our computational camera processing to the Smartphone platforms and operating system you know and love. Our knowledge is broad and deep covering optics and imaging through compiler optimization, hardware accelerators, and operating systems. We conceive, design, develop, port, accelerate and qualify. We support and create interfaces for customers, independent SW developers and end-users. Our cycle is fast and energetic - the results of your labor are quickly visible in our products.

The Android Developer will play a key role in developing test, demo, and commercial applications likely to be shipped with and sold for our product on phone and tablet platforms. Initial applications include designing and building the best, most full-featured camera, gallery, image editing, and sharing applications. Given skilled and imaginative developers, there is a wide range of features, applications, and reusable components that we plan to ship to our envisioned ecosystem.
You are a self-directed, always-learning, avid developer who has a passion for optimum design, architecture, efficiency, and effectiveness. Your responsibilities will include leading creation and polishing of features and often whole applications. Some of this work will require researching existing methods while synthesizing novel solutions that leverage our groundbreaking camera capabilities to wow users with new abilities.
-- Major Android development with one or more major apps and/or a number of small ones
-- Good design experience and understanding of usability principles
-- Java, on Android at least, well understood including multithreading, networking
(HTTP/HTTPS connections, OAuth)
-- Has implemented code that produces and consumes JSON & XML
-- Understand how to handle rotation, any size screen, camera preview, dynamically loading images locally
and over a network connection
-- Have optimized memory, performance, and responsiveness of Android apps
-- Has developed and deployed applications on Heroku, App Engine, Cloud Foundry, or Elastic Beanstalk.
-- Has experience with S3 or similar content stores.
-- Has done something with one or more of: cameras, imaging, graphics, GPU (OpenGL, CUDA, DirectX)
-- Good experience with C & C++, not C only
-- Android device drivers, camera drivers, camera framework, imaging or camera apps
-- Assembly (SSE or ARM NEON), DSP experience
-- Optimization of algorithms on real systems
-- Experience with iOS, WP8, BlackBerry OS, Linux, Windows, MacOSX
-- Qt experience
-- Photography experience
-- Familiar as a developer with Linux, Git, MacOSX, Windows 7
-- Familiar with PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, RDF or graph (Neo4j), SPARQL

Going beyond megapixels, the Pelican array camera provides complete depth information of the captured scene, allowing users to refocus after the fact and perform an unprecedented range of edits.
