SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION:
Reviews and analyzes purchase requirements for Mechanical/HW Commodity. Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive. May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing. Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues. Works with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability. Requires domestic or global expertise of assigned commodities.
Coordinates sourcing, pricing and purchasing activities with internal/external manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire material in a cost effective and timely manner. Processes purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers. Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity; creates and maintains bills of material and parts/commodities PDM or other enterprise wide systems. Performs cost analysis and volume planning for Mechanical/HW commodities (e.g., materials, components, equipment and services). Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value.
May develop and utilizes internal processes, tools and techniques to identify, implement and monitor Commodity plans and strategies, policy, processes, tools, metrics and action plans as required.
This is a strategic position responsible for vendor relations, quality, service, inventory, pricing, material planning, cost control and cost reduction
Provides effective project management for key Commodity growth and Supply Chain improvement initiatives with Mechanical/HW vendors.
Coordinates all sourcing, pricing and purchasing activity for key Commodity.
Lead teams to oversee all aspects of Mechanical/HW Supply Chain performance to meet the quality, delivery, customer service and cost requirements of AOptix
Act as a liaison and point of contact between Operations, vendors and the functional departments within the Operating Groups.
QUALIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS- EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor?s Degree preferred
Minimum of 7 years? experience in supplier relationship/development activities
Technical experience with Mechanical and HW Commodities
Minimal travel required; Domestic and International
Overall operations/marketplace knowledge with experience in telecommunications.
Computer skills ? Excel, Word, Power point, and Access.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (e.g. Shift-working)
Working hours between 8 am ? 5pm including flexibility to work weeknights or weekends as needed
