Community and Events Manager, Semester Online 2U, Inc.
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED 2U is looking for a dynamic and highly motivated marketing manager to support Semester Online, a groundbreaking online initiative that brings together top-tier colleges and universities to deliver live, for-credit undergraduate courses online. The marketing manager will be responsible for non-academic student communication & community building strategies. S/he will work with 2U?s Directors of Student Support & the Director of Marketing to develop programs that improve student satisfaction & engagement, increase referrals, and support marketing initiatives. In addition, the marketing manager will be responsible for planning and managing all campus-based event marketing activities.
These responsibilities include the following:
Drive engagement on social networks and 2U?s learning management system (LMS)
o Support post-enrollment and admissions staff in monitoring and responding to students using social media and 2U?s LMS
o Collect testimonials and positive feedback; Repurpose for blog content and other promotional materials
Identify creative ways to promote Semester Online through word-of-mouth campaigns that increase engagement and referrals
Support the development of a Student Ambassador or Campus rep program
Design contests that generate awareness and excitement about Semester Online and drive engagement with the brand
Identify creative ways to engage Semester Online ?alumni? to increase awareness of the program.
In concert with Admissions and Marketing, drive engagement of current and former Semester Online students to increase interest in taking courses in subsequent semesters.
Establish best practices regarding student email communication (newsletters, notifications, etc.), webinar process, and crisis management scenarios
Support Semester Online?s Student Events strategy
Maintain overall event project plans; establish timelines, clear stakeholder communication, and event logistics
Work with a creative team and brand managers for all necessary collateral and brand materials (giveaways, handouts, etc.)
Drive promotion of the event and on-site engagement; Coordinate on-site logistics as needed
Assist with team travel
Report on the success of events regularly
Design and report on weekly and monthly metrics that speak to student engagement and retention
Manage interns and 3rd party vendors as needed
The selected candidate will have a bachelor's degree and experience with community management, social media marketing and/or student services. S/he should be familiar with communication best practices and have strong project management skills. S/he must be able to thrive on constant change, be self-motivated, personable, and goal-oriented.
Things That Should Be in Your Background
Bachelor's degree required
Is comfortable engaging in online conversations with brand advocates, brand detractors and other industry stakeholders
Has 2-3 years of experience in digital brand / inbound marketing, social media / community management, public relations, or student services
Socially enabled: experience with Facebook Pages, Twitter, content sharing services like Youtube and Instagram, and online forums and social networks
Ability to make intuitive and thoughtful decisions
Salesforce or CRM experience a plus
Strong understanding of community building/community management
Expertise with Excel and PowerPoint
