This individual will work in the area of designing, coding, testing, and debugging software to run under either Microsoft Windows (XP or later) or UNIX (Solaris 8 or later, RedHat LINUX) Operating System. This is a mid-career level position with no supervisory responsibilities, and works under the direction of a Principal Computer Scientist or Principal Systems Engineer.
A BS degree in Computer Science or related field can be substituted for 2 years experience.
? maintenance of current software baseline
? analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation of new software enhancements
? preparing technical documentation for current software functions
? preparing technical documentation of software changes
? Automated Unit Testing
? Familiarity with VMWare (or other virtual environments)
? hardware maintenance
? hardware troubleshooting
? installing new hardware (ability to lift and rack servers)
? configuring hardware
? updating hardware
LINUX Systems Administration
? perform backups for system software
? add/remove/update user group/account information/privileges
? resetting of users' passwords
? troubleshooting and fixing any communication problems between the machines within each site
? troubleshooting and fixing any communication problems between the production site and the backup site
? installing and configuring new hardware
? troubleshooting of data flow problems (determine if it is SW-related, HW-related, a data formatting change, a permissions problem, etc...)
ANSI SQL Database Administration
? Add/remove users permissions
? Maintaining database availability
? Rebuilding of database and re-populating it in the case of hardware failures
? Ensuring data integrity in the production database
? Ensuring data integrity between the production database and the backup database (keeping them in synch)
? Periodically provide dumps of all database records to another program for audit purposes to determine how in synch our two programs' databases are
? Basic support to network administrators for LAN troubleshooting
The REQUIRED skills are as follows
? 7 plus years of PERL, SQL, and LINUX system administration
? 3 to 5 years of system hardware trouble-shooting
? Experience using other development languages (JAVA, HTML, etc)
? 3 plus years of utilizing the software engineering life cycle process
? Self-starter, problem-solver, and effective communication skills (written and verbal)
? Technical knowledge of data flow processes

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Within the last 7 years, a minimum of 5 years experience with designing, coding, testing, and debugging software to run under either Microsoft Windows (XP or later) or UNIX (Solaris 8 or later, Redhat LINUX) Operating System.
Within the last 7 years, a minimum of 5 years experience in at least one (1) of the specializations listed below:
I. Programming/Scripting Languages: Individual shall have designed, coded, tested and debugged software written in C, C++, Java, PERL, TCL/TK, PYTHON, BOURNE shell, C shell, BASH, KORN shell, Groovy, PL/SQL, SQL, PHP.
III. Database Management: Individual shall have experience in object-oriented or relational database design, development, troubleshooting, and testing, and management system experience with SYBASE, ORACLE or MySQL. Experience shall include use of PL/SQL, Oracle Dataguard, Oracle 11g, SQL Server, Oracle Label Security, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and/or JDBC
V. Software Test/Integration: Individual shall have experience planning, developing, documenting and executing test programs to verify system operability and compliance with project standards and requirements, writing and executing test procedures, documenting problem reports and defining test paths. In addition, experience is required in system analysis and data flow paths.
VI. Systems Interfacing: Individual shall have experience designing and developing SW that interfaces to other systems, to include networks.
VII Data Formatting : Individual shall have experience in design and development of specialized applications software dealing with data in the NSA standard formats (e.g. CSDF, CERF, USSID 124, ASDF) or experience programming using the manipulation re-use libraries for those formats.
VIII. Middleware (Business Tier): Individual shall have experience with one or more of the following: Hibernate, Tomcat, Jboss, EJB3, WebLogic 8.1, Apache Log4J, Rsync, jBPM
IX. Frameworks: Individual shall have experience with the one or more of the following: Spring, Grails.
X. XML Technologies: Individual shall have experience with the one or more of the following: JAXB, JIBX
XI. Development Environment: Individual shall have experience with the one or more of the following: Eclipse, ANT
Scope of Responsibility:
As determined by the project size and requirements
Daily meetings with customer and project team.
Sitting in front of a computer on a daily basis
Assigned tasks are usually performed at the customer site on a daily basis.
