We are looking for an energetic, customer-service oriented support person to provide LAN, Server, and Desktop support for our corporate IT environment. We are searching for a candidate that is creative and innovative in their approach to support and management of our corporate IT environment. This position will reward the successful candidate with a variety of technical responsibilities, exposure to a wide array of server/storage/application/network technologies and a working environment filled with employees abundant in technical knowledge.
Skills & Abilities:
Detailed knowledge and experience in configuring and supporting networked Windows PCs with standard Microsoft Office software.
Ability to customize and support laptop configurations with additional software as needed to meet business requirements, including system utilities, security software, and specialized application software.
Ability to work with a variety of vendor products (IBM and Dell). Ability to accomplish both major and minor hardware modifications on these systems.
Ability to interact well with IT and other support staff as well as PC users across a wide range of computer skills.
Ability to develop clear, concise, well-organized written documentation, and communicate effectively in meetings and presentations.
Ability to keep clear and detailed records, including system documentation, configuration procedures, and troubleshooting.
Principles of networked laptop computer set-up, maintenance, testing and repair procedures.
Principles to ensure laptop computer security.
Local area network computing environments.
Familiarity with Active Directory and Exchange is desirable.
Familiarity with Windows servers is desirable.
Familiarity with centralized desktop PC management systems would be helpful.
Education & Experience:
Associates degree in a related field (computer science, information technology, etc.).
Experience in supporting networked PCs.
Position located in Des Moines, IA ? local candidates only
Typical tasks will include, but not be limited, to:
Configure new laptop systems with standard software. Create and deploy standard disk images as needed.
Ensure that all current patches and upgrades are applied.
Customize computers as required by individual end users.
Install and test laptop computers in a lab environment.
Assist in solving physical configuration problems, such as dealing with wire and cable management and space constraints.
Install and configure a network printer, and configure the laptops to print to this printer.
Provide explicit documentation on the final, preferred configurations and set-up/tear-down procedures at both a detailed level for IT personnel and a simplified check-list for non-technical users.
Revise procedures & documentation as required, based on experience with the training exercises. Provide any recommendations for future actions to improve functioning, as well as maintenance of the portable network environment.
Clear machines of all viruses remotely working with the end user.
5% day trips to remote LightEdge and client offices.
