Data Architect/SQL Developer:
POSITION SUMMARY: The incumbent will primarily be responsible for the architecture, design, development and maintenance of the data warehouse and one or more relational databases. The specific activities that will be included, but not limited to, are defining ETL/Data integration architecture, strategy for master data and metadata management, dimensional and relational data modeling, development of ETL code and physical data models, performance tuning, etc. The solution design should be targeted to meet the business needs for information delivery via reports, cubes, dashboards, etc In addition to the above primary responsibilities, the incumbent may also be involved in designing and developing reports, cubes, technical architecture, and excellent communication skills.

Managerial Responsibilities: In the future, the incumbent may manage other employees which may or may not include other managers; is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these teams. Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization?s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and on-boarding employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Managers are responsible for the asset management of all company equipment assigned to their employees and/or contingent workforce (contractors, consultants, temporary workers, etc.). This includes ordering equipment for on-boarding and collecting equipment during the exit process.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assists with creation of a robust, sustainable architecture that supports requirements and provides for expansion given budgetary constraints and availability of data and skilled resources.
Works with customers, end-users, technical architects, and application designers to define the data requirements and structure for Business Intelligence (BI) applications.
Designs conceptual, logical, and physical models for the data warehouse or data mart (data structure, storage, and integration). Leads the database analysis, design, and build effort.
Evolves models to meet new and changing business requirements
Develops process for capturing and maintaining metadata from all data warehousing components
Works with business requirements analyst to identify and understand source data systems.
Designs maps of source system data to data warehouse models.
Develops and tests extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
Defines and captures metadata and rules associated with ETL processes.
Responsible for data profiling and defining data quality processes.
Ensures that the database designs fulfill the requirements, including data volume, frequency, and long term BI growth requirements.
Performs related duties, assignments and projects as requested.
4+ years of applicable work experience as a Business Intelligence/Data warehouse architect/developer using Microsoft SQL Server technologies, with extensive experience writing and tuning SSIS Packages, SQL, stored procedures, functions, and database objects
Comfortable with both SQL 2005 and SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise (current company platform)
Expertise in designing, developing and deploying Business Intelligence solutions using SSIS, SSRS and SSAS
Windows 2008 Server administration, scripting, and automation (Powershell, FTP, DFS) a strong plus
Able to meet tight deadlines, interface with clients, gather requirements, and interact with different business units
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines
Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds
Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to exercise independent judgment
Must protect the confidentiality of student personal information and comply with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Must comply with all company procedures and policies, including company privacy and security policies
Previous hands on development experience with Java & APEX
Familiarity with Agile, Scrum methodologies
Salesforce Admin certification
Salesforce Portal/Sites/Knowledge experience including API development
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Position requires travel approximately 30% of time to attend business meetings with some overnight travel, as well.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires prolonged sitting with some bending, stooping and stretching; eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eye sight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Also requires moderate to intense concentration due to complexity and/or need to meet deadlines, and flexibility to readily adapt to a changing environment.
