Position: Director, Ad Sales Operations - LA
Overview: Strategic and tactical Management of the Ad Sales Operations Department which is responsible for end-to-end execution of ad sales orders from inception to on-air play out. Management and oversight of the channel?s traffic staff and system as it relates to ad sales functions. Insure that the value of commercial inventory is maximized.
Daily Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Manage a staff responsible for the execution of ad sales orders (including brand allocations), traffic, on - air promo scheduling and log creation. Strategic and tactical Management of the Ad Sales Operations Department (located in New York) which is responsible for end-to-end execution of ad sales orders including initial data entry and verification with client contracts, and subsequent order modifications.
Manage, motivate and enable staff to function in a tactical manner
Continually monitor staff performance to insure that departmental requirements are consistently met
Co-manage and optimize planning, pricing, inventory, sales and technology functions
Develop, implement, monitor and refine operational procedures that insure that data entry is accurate, the operation is efficient and that deadlines are met
Oversight of the ad sales aspects of the company?s traffic system, including staff training, problem tracking and working with the traffic system vendor to resolve issues and recommend system enhancements
Ensure that the value of commercial inventory is optimized through the use of analytical tools, and coordination with Ad Sales senior management
Ensure the fulfillment of commercial inventory agreements with affiliates
Coordinate with the Network?s origination facility on a 24 x 7 basis to resolve traffic and log issues, and the implementation of late log and copy revisions
Generate commercial logs and conduct monthly log reconciliation
Evaluate and coordinate sponsorship elements between Ad Sales Marketing, Planning, Master Control and Tournament productions
Communication and coordination with production team of all sponsorship elements and features for inclusion in live broadcasts.
Create formats for all live, delay and repeat tournaments, including supplier time and original program clocks
Assume the role of key Finance liaison supporting inquiries regarding ad sales activities
Prepares and provides Finance Department with Month-End Ad Sales revenue & invoicing reports
Coordinate with Finance Department on all Ad Sales invoicing related matters to ensure accurate and timely invoicing including generating invoice requests and preparing custom invoices when required
Point person for resolution of billing discrepancies
Completion of Month-End Reports for Finance
Responsibility for formulating, implementing and monitoring procedures consistent with financial auditing requirements.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and direct a team in a detail oriented, mission critical, demanding, deadline driven and dynamically changing environment.
Ability to analyze process and optimize performance and resources.
Ability to proactively assess issues, implement changes, set priorities, solve problems, be resourceful, work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Detail-oriented, excellent written and oral communications, strong interpersonal skills and a team player.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in a Traffic system (Broadway preferred but not required).
Sports experience preferred
Proven ability to perform in a live, sports programming environment
Highly articulate in communicating the substance of data provided in monthly and ad hoc Ad Sales reporting.
Bachelor?s degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience in television ad sales operations with at least 3 years of those years in a management/supervisory role and 4 in an ad sales operations/traffic management capacity.
