Job Qualifications (basic job description):
The Director of Facilities is responsible for leading the design, planning and construction of capital projects across the Corporation. The position is located in the Corporate Headquarters (Manassas, VA), and has direct reports in each individual location. The Director is responsible for working with each location to develop yearly capital budgets on facility modifications and improvements, and with the Corporate Senior Staff to develop and submit Capital Projects for facility expansions to meet Corporate Strategies and Goals.
The Director of Facilities is responsible for working with each site General Manager to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Corporate rules and regulations concerning the Environment, employee health in the workplace and the safety of employees. It is a requirement of the position to keep abreast of changes in the laws and regulations affecting the areas of Aurora involvement.
The Director of Facilities is required to work closely with the site Facility personnel as a source of information and guidance for equipment operation, specification and consistent across the corporation compliance with Production needs. The Facility position maintains an inventory of Corporate Equipment to facilitate movement of assets between locations to minimize capital expenses and maximize asset utilization.
The Director of Facilities is required to have hands on involvement in the daily activities of maintenance and operation of the Virginia Facility, coordinating and assisting in the activities of the Facility Personnel.
Ensure development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs for all pieces of major production and support equipment at each location.
Communicate with each General Manager to ensure facility meets utilization needs and requirements of the location in support of the Business Plan.
Collect and respond to issues related to Facility maintenance and equipment operation as reported by members of management or operational employees.
Oversee the coordination of building space allocation and layout, and facility expansion. Assist the IT team with coordination of IT infrastructure and communications.
Manage the maintenance and conditions of the physical plan and develop annual operating and maintenance budgets at all locations. Physical plant is defined to include the buildings, grounds, support equipment and production equipment and parking areas.
Coordinate with the Corporate Security Officer to provide individual site security as required by regulation and/or contract, and develop consistent corporate security guidelines.
Develop budgets and controls to ensure facility modifications and improvements are completed under control and in a manner consistent across the Corporation.
Provide input and recommendations to each General Manager on annual Capital Budgets and to the accounting staff on annual Operating Budgets.
Ensure compliance with Federal and State Environmental laws and regulations as well as Company specific rules and regulations regarding the Environment, Employee Health and Employee Safety.
Work with and assist other functional departments to provide facility input to meet projected production and operational needs.
Collect and present performance and operational data as requested from time to time at Operational Reviews.
Provide weekly report of activities, concerns and major accomplishments compiled from all operational locations to the Vice President Business Operations at the agreed upon time.
Minimum Requirements (education and experience):
Must be a solid leader with proven ability to grow teams at diverse locations, successfully create and implement plans, create an environment which is committed to providing service and operational excellence. Understand and apply Federal, State and Corporate regulations and standards regarding the environemnt, health and employee safety. Utilize Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, Visio). Ability to forecast and meet deadlines - Ability to work successfully in a dynamic environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and proven organizational skills.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management or equivalent. Can substitute equivalent level of education and experience.
10+ years of experience in managing manufacturing facilities and support, preferably associated with aircraft manufacturing and assembly processes.
Experience with direct supervision and/or leading a team of direct reports in a Facilities Management setting.
Strong PC skills using Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft PowerPoint, Project, Project Scheduling and SharePoint.
Experience with plan layout, building design, and Industrial Engineering.
Ability to travel to other Aurora locations approximately 25% of the time. Currently in Columbus MS, Bridgeport WV and Cambridge MA.
Experience with Government and Aerospace specifications desirable.
Professional Engineering certification is desirable but not required.
Must be capable of acquiring a US Government Security Clearance.
Must have the ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
Must be able to access roofs and elevated equipment.
This position is mostly day shift, but the flexibility to work extended hours or other shifts as needed is required.
