The ESM Tools Engineer will be responsible for the Enterprise Systems Management (ESM) tools that monitor and manage Dotomi?s critical real-time applications and infrastructure. The ESM engineer maintains packages and configurations for the enterprise monitoring and alerting solutions for the detection and correlation of potential and actual service impacting events. This will include systems and network monitoring, application monitoring, and support for various backend support tools such as JIRA. The ESM engineer will own the tools and structure, alerting mechanisms and escalation, dashboards and overall framework to support managing the Dotomi systems and applications running across multiple global data centers.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
? Implement and maintain the overall ESM framework to support systems, network, application and business logic real-time monitoring, longer-term trending and event management and alerting.
? Create and maintain operational dashboards for both real-time and trended views for multiple levels of users (NOC, engineering, application, business, executive).
? Create event correlation rules matched to service monitoring requirements.
? Provide day-to-day support, maintenance and troubleshooting of supported ESM tools and ensure the availability, performance, and security of the overall ESM system.
? Collaborate with business, engineering, development and other key partners to ensure operational readiness of new solutions and ongoing optimization/improvement of existing solutions.
? Develop new tools and methodologies for the use of team solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
? Constantly expands and improves the integrated solutions of applications, tools and dashboards.
? Collaborates in creating business monitoring requirements to translate into technical specifications for monitoring capabilities.
? Scale out monitoring solutions as necessary to meet changing enterprise needs.
? Perform maintenance, patch, upgrade and repair to monitoring solutions.
? Create and document instrumentation standards and procedures for the environment.

? Candidate must have the ability to work on multiple efforts simultaneously, take initiative and work independently both in terms of technical tasks and cross-team collaboration and facilitation.
? Strong oral/written communication skills and excellent documentation habits are necessary.
? Candidate should have a track record of rapidly learning and mastering new technologies with the resources at hand, whether or not formal training is immediately available.
? Demonstrated ability and drive to perform in a demanding multi-tasking environment, and a willingness to ?wear many hats? that cover all elements of the various components.
? Ability to work with development and application teams to define and develop SOPs, troubleshooting and response criteria.

? Willingness to learn and work with multiple inter-locking applications, tools and technologies and not firmly stuck on a single answer.

Experience & Education
? Requires at least 4 years of experience in the ESM and tools field with additional experience in systems, network or application administration.
? The team supports a diverse set of open systems based products. Deep technical knowledge and operational experience in implementing at least 2 of the following is minimally required, and more than 2 is preferred: Solarwinds, Nagios, Cacti, NMS/OpenNMS, MRTG, and/or other RRD based tools.
? Strong hands-on experience in open systems management and administration, in particular LINUX, networking (primarily Cisco) and working directly with JAVA based applications.
? Deep experience in designing and creating custom tools, scripts and interfaces to build monitoring and alerting capabilities custom fit to the systems in use. Experience in multiple scripting languages such as Python, Perl, various Linux shells, C, Java, etc.
? Previous experience defining, creating, and supporting monitoring dashboards for various levels of users and providing reporting and status information clearly and at actionable levels.
