Quidel is seeking an experienced Facilities Technician to conduct maintenance, operation, and repair of facility and production facility equipment, as well as perform routine maintenance as well as emergency repair of equipment and components. This requires taking ownership of assignments directed at improving total operating efficiency, minimizing equipment downtime and improving internal administrative processes. Also requires documentation support to ensure that documents such as validations, EIN?s and PM?s are correct and up to date for the assigned equipment and processes.
Must be able to function with minimal supervision to perform the job day-to-day. There are however, often times when consensus is obtained in troubleshooting equipment and system problems. Will routinely make ?on the spot? decisions regarding equipment and system functions that require adjustment. There is high degree of problem solving ability required as problems surround nearly all functions of this position.
Utilization of feedback is required to ensure that the correct, assigned personnel have the necessary information to produce a long-term solution to prevent repetitive adjustments and repairs, and to ensure that new discrepancies are tracked and necessary documentation (NCMR?s, EIN?s, etc.) are written or updated.
High school diploma or equivalent ? Required

Experience conducting routine building/grounds maintenance ? Required
Experience working with and troubleshooting equipment electrical systems - Required
Experience with machine shop equipment, power tools and their associated safety procedures ? Required
Experience conducting routine maintenance and repairs on automation equipment -Required
Experience working in a high paced manufacturing environment ? Required
Ability to work within a self-directed work team environment ? Preferred
Experience working in combination with Engineering on projects ? Preferred
Walking and conducting physical activities associated with completing work requests Climbing ladders, crawling under furniture and around equipment Moderate Lifting (up to 50 lbs.), pushing, pulling, moving, (furniture, equipment, machinery) Heavy lifting of equipment exceeding 50 lbs with assistance from others and equipment.
Extreme physical activities as associated with large equipment/furniture relocation HVAC equipment knowledge ? Preferred
Refrigeration systems and lyophilizers work experience - Highly Desired
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently. - Required
Basic computer skills including, file management, MS Word, Excel and Access ? Preferred
Knowledge of QSR/ISO 9001 ? Preferred Excellent understanding and application of safety procedures - Required Excellent use of communication, cooperation and interpersonal skills - Required
Excellent documentation skills ? Preferred Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently. ? Required
Basic skills with machine lathe, mill and welding - Preferred
Basic electro-mechanical skills - Required
Basic computer skills including, file management, MS Word, and preventative maintenance software? Preferred.
---Must be able to walk, climb ladders, stoop, kneel, and crawl, for periods of up to 15 minutes ? Required
---Must have adequate vision correctable by regular corrective lenses ? Required for color coded electrical wiring ? Required
---Must be able to lift 50 lbs. from the ground to 4 feet once per day- Required
