We have an immediate opening for a Hardware Engineer in our San Mateo, California headquarters.
We are currently looking for an energetic and talented Hardware Engineer as we expand our Device Production Group. This position reports to the Engineering Manager. Our Hardware Engineers are responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and assisting with the reverse engineering, discovery, and integration efforts of a varied array of mobile handset devices produced by multiple manufacturers into Keynote?s proprietary testing and monitoring hardware platform. We are looking for someone who is passionate about electronics, loves a good challenge, and where attention to detail and perfection is a part of their everyday life. Telecommuting is not authorized for this position.
Analyze/reverse engineer/interpret internal electrical interfaces of various mobile device video displays, touch screens, accelerometers, gyroscopes, and other input/output components using digital voltmeters (DMV), oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other analog and digital tools.
Analyze capacitive touch screen interfaces and develop software code used by Keynote microcontrollers.
Develop solutions to interface integrated devices into Keynote?s mobile device testing and monitoring platform.
Conduct computer and device diagnostics to investigate and resolve device failures. Collaborate with hardware engineers and assembly technicians to identify and resolve integrated device issues.
Perform functional testing of integrated devices prior to delivering to Quality Control for full regression testing. Identify integration failures, device integrity issues, and build out quality of devices.
Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and management to establish requirements for new systems and/or hardware modifications.
Serve as an escalation point for sales, support, and deployment engineers and respond to technical questions about device integrations and functionality.
Develop, teach, and peer-review, and maintain documentation of new device integration techniques and procedures that will be used by hardware assembly technicians.
Support and assist assembly technicians in delivering upon internal production schedules and commitments.
Work independently to meet team goals with minimal supervision.
3-5 years? experience working with digital and analog circuit design, electronics assembly work, and surface-mount and small component soldering, preferably within an electronics manufacturing environment.
BS electrical engineering or related discipline.
Ability to debug hardware at an individual component level.
Excellent soldering and surface mount device (SMD) rework skills with strong electronic workmanship skills and unwavering attention to detail.
Experience with LCD displays and video technology and to identify and have working knowledge of electronic parts, components, and PCB boards.
Demonstrate proficiency using electronic test equipment such as digital voltmeters (DMV), digital multimeters (DMM), oscilloscope, RF probes, and logic analyzers.
C++, Java, and SQL, and/or microcontroller programming
Demonstrate proficiency reading and interpreting electrical schematics, drawings, specifications, and manuals.
Understanding of capacitive and resistive touch screen interface is a plus
Experience with configuration of Windows systems and device drivers
Demonstrate professional verbal and written communication skills.
Must work well independently and within a team environment, be highly motivated and enthusiastic, and be comfortable working in a fast paced environment where working on multiple priority activities is normal. Willing to learn new processes, techniques, and procedures.
Be familiar with device drivers within Windows/PC environments.
A strong interest in cell phone technology.
Eager to exceed personal build-out quotas and assist teammates to do the same.
Willing to work weekends, when necessary.
