This position reports to the Commodity Manager and works closely with the supply chain team and is responsible for supporting the procurement and sourcing activities for Aquion Energy. The organization is focused on developing supply chain strategies, driving globalization of sourced products, and reducing cost through various sourcing and cost reduction strategies. Junior buyer?s chief responsibility is the execution of day to day purchasing of supply and MRO items.
Duration: This will be a temporary position with the possibility of full-time employment. Hours: 8 AM - 5PM Monday - Friday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Convert daily purchase requisitions into purchase orders utilizing Aquion?s ERP system, route for proper approvals, and place orders. Typical purchases include MRO and supply items.
Obtain quotes, specifications and product availability from suppliers, negotiate favorable price and terms.
Enter new suppliers into ERP system.
Expedite purchase orders and track delivery to ensure timely availability to support pilot operations.
Manage physical and digital purchasing records.
Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures, ethical practices and adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
Key Competencies required:
Must be exceptionally detail oriented and accurate.
Excellent analytical skills are absolutely required.
Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and frequently changing priorities.
Self-driven, results-oriented, and motivated to work effectively with minimal direct supervision.
Strong written/oral communication skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
1-3 years purchasing, supply chain or similar experience.
High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree or BA/BS preferred.
Good understanding of purchasing concepts.
ERP experience helpful.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to work with others/function as part of a team and maintain good working relationships with other departments; customer oriented.
Ability to function well under pressure.
Willingness and ability to assume increased responsibility.
Flexible to adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
