Marketing Communications Manager Spiceworks
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Who you are: Are you someone with demand gen in your DNA who lives, eats and breathes measurable results? A seasoned marketer with strategic sensibilities (revenue goals, anyone?) who?s happy to roll up your sleeves, craft a solid marcomm plan, and put that promo mix into play? Does your left brain ?ooh-and-aah? over the operational mechanics of a nurture campaign? while your right brain relishes the opportunity to craft killer copy and clever content? Spiceworks just might have a position for you! We?re looking for a take-charge Marcomm Manager who thrives in a team environment, has leadership experience, and brings a track record of B2B demand gen success to the table. Sound like you? Apply now!
Who we are: Spiceworks, a 7 year old Austin-based startup, is transforming how tech products (hardware, software, and IT services) are marketed and sold to over 2.5 million SMB IT pros in around the world. Over 2000 IT pros join us for free each day. How do we keep it free? Over 2,300 tech brands (including Microsoft, Dell, HP and Rackspace) advertise in Spiceworks to reach these IT pros. Since SMB IT pros have historically been tough market to reach, vendors love the unique ways Spiceworks helps them reach this elusive market?so much so that Forbes touted us ?the future of media?!
What you?ll do: As a Spiceworks Marketing Communications Manager, you?ll develop and execute killer marketing plans that map to several key buyer personas (and chart to a revenue goal!). You?ll not only devise and orchestrate campaigns, but you?ll also drive the content creation engine to support them. And you?ll oversee the variety of testing, reporting and fine-tuning that needs to happen across all channels and personas to hit goals. You?ll work across all departments of the company and present ideas and results to get everyone up to speed on the demand gen engine that fuels our sales pipeline and brings our off-the-beaten-path brand to life with tech marketers. Oh, and if you?re made of the right stuff? you?ll have an ?I?d rather be busy than bored? blast every step of the way!
Responsibilities: What will I do?
Develop long-term marcomm plans that target multiple buyer personas to meet key business objectives (i.e. a measureable pipeline and closed revenue are music to your ears, and you find ?one-size fits? all marketing archaic? maybe even offensive!)
Know the ins-and-outs of our marketers and their pain points and personalities to craft spot on programs that ultimately get ?em drinking the orange Kool Aid and buying our solutions
Identify and drive the creation of the most effective content to drive marketing outcomes
Infuse all Spiceworks touch points with the SpiceVibe that sets us apart from the traditional tech brands
Work with Product Management, Sales, Demand Gen, Brand Marketing, Sales Enablement, and Executive Management (i.e. the whole motely crew here!) to help prioritize demand gen needs and investments and make tradeoffs as necessary
Drive new product and feature launches to existing clients as well as across the organization
Cultivate customer relationships and build an arsenal of handy references, case studies, and tech marketers willing to help us spread the spice (i.e. People like and trust you)!
Qualifications: What does it take to do this job?
5-10 years of marketing communications experience with a proven track record in demand gen for a fast-paced, agile B2B company (i.e. come ready to talk #s as far as what you?ve done)
A passion for marcomm and the skill set to prove it -- complete with social, email, SEO, and marketing analytics
Experience managing segmented markets with multiple product offerings and using marketing automation software to make it all happen (e.g. Marketo, Eloqua, HubSpot, etc.)
Proven track record of developing and delivering sales tools and content that drive higher win rates and revenue that?s directly attributable to your marketing masterminding
Adaptability is key (e.g. we have a conference room called Zig-zag ? that?s just how we roll!)
Ability to drive outcomes across a diverse team and organization full of strong personalities and opinions (a.k.a. people respect you and actually listen to and like you)
Grace under fire (you can make critical decisions and problem solve amid chaos)
Copywriting can-do (i.e. you gotta be able to nail the Spiceworks style!) and some public speaking and presentation chops won?t hurt either
Fluid confidence (i.e. you know your stuff, but aren?t afraid to explore new ideas/approaches).
The Marketing Communications Manager will report to the Executive Director of Marketing Communications.
Think you?ve got what it takes and are ready to throw your hat in the ring? If you really want to stand out from the pack? Include a cover letter and strut some of your stuff via the good old-fashioned written word.
