The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for design/development efforts to meet production needs. They will specify, design, develop and integrate various components for manufacturability and ease of assembly.
Perform product design work within the hardware design team
Develop and design tooling and fixturing for engineering and manufacturing
Materials and component selection
Interface with vendors for component quotes and fabrication
Develop designs for manufacturability and assembly
Provide tolerance study to both conventional and geometric dimensioning tolerance standards
Perform design and material selection for sheet metal, cast metal and injection molded plastic parts
Modify designs and recommend changes to existing engineering designs
Develop / Perform tests to verify design of components
Proficient with Pro E and/or SolidWorks
Experience with the creation of 3D modeling and 2D detailed drawing
Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet tools
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good organizational and project planning skills
Previous experience working with sheet metal fabrication, tolerance analysis and design for manufacturability required
Previous experience performing vibration analysis and/or working with hard disk drives is desirable
5+ years? experience in a design environment
Manufacturing experience a plus
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or 8+ years equivalent combination of education and working within a design/manufacturing team experience.
