The New Initiatives Communications Director will own media and social media communications for Zipcar new initiatives, including Zipcar for Business, Mobile, Zipvan and all other evolving business initiatives.
Core responsibilities include strategy and communications plans, content creation, proactive reporter pitching and building relationships with pertinent media and bloggers, and social media and blog interaction and engagement.
Develop plan for raising Zipcar?s new initiatives in business, consumer, trade and tech media and on the corporate blog and social media platforms
Manage and analyze surveys, polls and content management systems
Continuously develop new creative ideas and outreach methods for elevating Zipcar?s new initiatives programs
Build new initiatives content calendar
Pitch media, including national outlets and influential tech blogs to proactively secure interviews and coverage on key news
Continually develop creative ideas and alternative consumer pitch angles to broaden Zipcar?s media placements and build reporter relationships
Regularly write and contribute to blog and social platforms
Advise and train global and local markets to create their own new initiatives content relevant to their cities
Excellent organizational skills to manage projects with many moving parts
BA/BS preferably in communications, journalism, English or marketing-related discipline
7+ years public relations and social media experience, with demonstrated success reaching top tier influencers in trade, consumer, tech and business
Passionate about technology including mobile and social integration on the web
Ability to create topical, eye-catching content using trend stories, thought leadership and relevant news hooks
Creative thinker who can develop unique story angles
Proven experience using data in pitches and story-telling; strong quantitative analysis skills
High energy to inspire and drive results
Fast decision maker
Strong credibility, stature and the ability to command respect as a source of relevant expertise
Strict attention to detail with an ability to meet demanding deadlines in a competitive and rapidly changing environment
A natural interest in the latest ideas and trends
