XDN's Operations team is looking for an ambitious Operations Engineer. You'll need solid Linux skills and experience to jump into our Java-based web application stack. You'll be expected to provide hands-on technical engineering of our ever-growing server and application environments across multiple global data centers & remote POPs.
Most importantly, you'll be an integral part of the team handling the infrastructure responsible for delivering XDN's global services (such as CrowdDirector & CrowdView) to our clients' millions of end-users.
Maintenance of our core server & VM infrastructure
Support, tuning, maintenance, and documentation of our Ubuntu Linux server environment including builds, code deployment, patch management, and troubleshooting
Write, maintain, and expand automation scripts.
Collaboration with QA and Engineering for coordinated code releases.
Be a member of the weekly on-call rotation.
Experience & passion supporting a production Linux infrastructure.
Solid scripting knowledge (Ruby, Puppet, bash, etc)
Ability to troubleshoot complex issues quickly and effectively, and, just as importantly, know when to escalate.
Metrics-driven monitoring experience. Statsd over ZeroMQ, CEPmon, Nagios, Graphite/Pencil, and Logstash are our primary tools.
Must possess a strong mindset for automation. Hands on experience with Chef (or Puppet, etc) is a very big plus.
Deep knowledge of DNS
Affinity for open environments that encourage education, cooperation and teamwork
4 years experience administrating servers in a lights-out data center infrastructure
Must be ready, willing, and able to participate in occasional shared load of data center racking, stacking, and configuration duties
Passion for meticulous documentation
B.S. in Computer Science would be lovely, but real-world experience is preferred
