Pre-Sales Systems Engineer - Mid-Atlantic Silver Peak Systems

A successful Pre-Sales Systems Engineer (SE) at Silver Peak will:
Own the technical sale from evaluation to opportunity close
Be capable of selling and persuading technical personnel at large enterprises
Be comfortable working in a fast-paced sales environment
Own the technical relationships among partners and resellers
Deliver relevant sales and technical training to prospects, customers and partners
Be capable of installing and configuring Silver Peak products to support efficient and effective proof of concepts
Provide prompt feedback to product management and engineering to aid in the development and future direction of the product
Own the completion the technical portions of RFI/RFP documents in coordination with the Regional Sales Manager
Maintain a strong market awareness and knowledge of competitive technologies so as to best position Silver Peak technology within an opportunity
Be a team player that?s willing to help out in other areas of the company, as required
Be able to travel, as necessary. Necessary travel may include, but is not limited to, customer visits/installs, events and trade shows, as well as periodic visits to Silver Peak headquarters for training and team meetings.
Candidates for a Systems Engineer position at Silver Peak should have:
BSCS or equivalent and 4+ years of experience as a pre-sales Systems/Sales Engineer in the data networking field
Strong networking background with intimate knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, CIFS, NFS).
Competent troubleshooting skills that include hands-on experience with the configuration and support of networking gear, preferably from multiple vendors.
Ability to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of network protocols (TCP/UDP, CIFS, NFS)
Knowledge of Storage Area Network (SAN) technology from leading vendors such as EMC, Hitachi, Netapp and Dell is a strong plus.
Proven experience in the design of LAN and WAN technologies into enterprise environments
Ability to competently present to an audience of mixed roles and technical abilities within a corporate organization
Internal drive and positive attitude to do go above and beyond whenever necessary, to win business and maintain strong professional relationships with customers and prospects.
Familiarity with Linux, Mac, Windows clients and servers is a plus.
Prior small company experience preferred.
