The Process engineer will be responsible for process improvement programs to support manufacturing operations. At the moment the position forms part of the Process Engineering Team in the Engineering & Technical Operation (ETO) but will work closely in cross-functional teams within manufacturing at Aquion Energy. The specific activities include, but not limited to, conducting HAZOP evaluations, sensitivity studies, verifying adequate MSA, process capability on key parameters, determination throughput capability, assuring materials/information traceability, and insuring proper documentation of work instructions.
Essential Job Functions:
Perform disciplined process engineering verification by following the internal equipment & process verification procedures. For each respective process; understand its status with Aquion Energy PDP stage gate program, sustain the detailed process flowcharts, identify CTQ variables (SIPOC), perform MSA (calibration & gage R&R), understand & reduce variation (CC & process capability), and perform DOEs to verify the sensitivity of the CTQ variables.
Take responsibility for insuring all changes & improvements are approved and documented in the respective SOPs, WI, & process parameter sheets. Support readiness review meetings on critical validation builds.
Apply lean manufacturing principles to model and track the throughput of manufacturing & its impact on the total product cost (labor/materials).
Utilize leadership & team skills to insure good process stewardship (Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost) in a cross-functional team environment.
Design and implement manufacturing test and assembly fixtures where required. Assist with the design and implementation of custom manufacturing equipment.
Use mechanical, chemical process and electrical knowledge to troubleshoot manufacturing process and equipment issues as they arise.
Manages / administers the internal hold & material review system (MRB) for their respective manufacturing process. Tracks/reviews in-process issues, ensures appropriate corrective actions are implemented, ensures appropriate disposition of discrepant materials and ensures that records are maintained.
Advises/consults with quality department, supply chain, and manufacturing regarding release/disposition of non-conforming product
Educate and coaching of operations and maintenance personnel to facilitate understanding of new processes

BS Degree in Engineering
6-10 years experience in quality/process engineering
Experience in chemical/powder processing and/or automated assembly preferred
Proven abilities in using quality tools (SPC, Process Capability, Gage R & R, DOE, etc) to ramp up and improve manufacturing processes.
Diverse knowledge of analytical labs, inspection control methods, techniques and documentation
Familiarity with GMP and/or ISO 9001.
Previous experience/certification in lean manufacturing highly desirable
Previous experience or certification with Design for Six Sigma highly desirable
Prior pilot operation & process development experience desirable
Domestic and International Travel to the plant on a regular basis, to suppliers, trade fairs and other sites will be required on an occasional basis.
