To expand the Process Engineering capabilities at Aquion Energy, the Process Technician position was created to provide support in debugging & operating equipment, assist process engineering in the development of process/product control plans, and train Pittsburgh & Westmoreland associates in advanced processes. This position reports to a Process Engineer and is a function of the Engineering and Technical Operations department.
Essential Job Functions:
The first responsibility is to provide production support when required. This will include operating equipment at any of the Aquion Energy sites when needed to debug, start up, or train. This position should expect to have daily interaction with manufacturing technicians, mechanics, and electricians.
Support process engineer in insuring all changes & improvements are approved and documented in the respective SOPs, WI, & process parameter sheets. Support readiness review meetings on critical validation builds.
Support manufacturing teams to insure good process stewardship (Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost) in a cross-functional team environment.
Use mechanical, chemical process and electrical knowledge to troubleshoot manufacturing process and equipment issues as they arise.
Manages / administers the internal hold & material review system (MRB) for their respective manufacturing process. Tracks/reviews in-process issues, ensures appropriate corrective actions are implemented, ensures appropriate disposition of discrepant materials and ensures that records are maintained.
Advises/consults with quality department, supply chain, and manufacturing regarding release/disposition of non-conforming product
Educate and coaching of operations and maintenance personnel to facilitate understanding of new processes
All other duties as assigned
A minimum of an Associate degree or equivalent trade school degree.
3-5 years of experience in quality/process engineering/manufacturing
Experience in chemical/powder processing and/or automated assembly preferred
Proven abilities in using quality tools (SPC, Process Capability, Gage R & R, DOE, etc).
Diverse knowledge of analytical labs, inspection control methods, techniques and documentation
Domestic and International Travel to the plant on a regular basis, to suppliers, trade fairs and other sites will be required on an occasional basis.
