Our Laboratory Processing Technicians are responsible for processing the once-in-a-lifetime samples received in our laboratory. Using CBR"s CellAdvantage system, our technicians process and store the stem cells from more newborns than any other cord blood bank. New technicians receive hands-on training in our CellAdvantage automated processing systemas well as the importance of good documentation practices and record keeping in and FDA regulated industry. While we research and develop processes for continuous improvement, this position entails using already established techniques. Over 100 lives have been saved or improved by stem cell transplants from CBR. Every sample we process has the potential to save a life and it is our technicians that ensure every sample can.
Becomes familiar with internal policies, procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as well as external regulations to perform all assigned duties in compliance with these standards.
Responsible for maintaining the quality system and bringing all compliance issues to the attention of a senior technician, supervisor or management.
Maintains donor, client and employee confidentiality.
Processes cord blood according to documented procedures once training and proficiency testing is complete. Responsible for performing sample cryopreservation, operation of Controlled Rate Freezers - including emergency response procedures and final storage of cord blood under direct supervision.
Maintain neat and accurate records and documentation.
Performs general lab cleaning and maintenance.
An Associates degree in a Laboratory Science / MLT degree or High School diploma with 4 years of Laboratory, Pharmacy, and Manufacturing experience or one year of experience working at CBR Tucson.
Criminal background screening is a condition of employment.
Ability to perform tasks repetitively while maintaining attention to detail.
Able to work weekends; flexible to work holidays if necessary.
