Position Title: Production Assembler / Sr. Production Assembler (Temporary)
Description: Responsible for the assembly/build of Zeltiq products that meet product quality requirements and Customer shipment deadlines.
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
Note: The following is meant to be representative but not necessarily all inclusive of the duties and responsibilities for this position title.
Performs electro-mechanical assembly of final products, sub-assemblies and related medical device products by following released procedures
Follows established methods and procedures in performing, assembly of optical, mechanical, fluidic and electronic components and assemblies.
Capable of precision soldering of electronic components and PCBAs per IPC-610.
Employs high standards of workmanship to ensure high quality products are produced on schedule. Typically works on assignments that are routine.
Understands implications of work, and makes recommendations for improvement.
Normally receives instruction on daily work, occasionally uses independent judgment and employs some initiative.
Must be able to work in a team oriented atmosphere with assemblers, technicians, QA personnel, and engineers, completing tasks and communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
Performs in process inspection to ensure products meet specifications and standards.
Generates required documentation to complete the Device History Record (DHR)
May require engineering support to resolve complex and unique problems.
Must be able to read and understand: assembly instructions, work orders, Bills of Materials, Standard Operation Procedures, and all other documentation used to control the products and processes.
Confers with engineers, technicians production personnel, and others regarding assembly procedures.
Expected to provide feedback on production and methods, product design issues, continuously strives to improve product quality and operational efficiency
Will provide support to project teams whose objectives may be: quality improvement, cost reduction, cycle time reduction, reliability improvement, increase operational efficiency, or new product introduction.
Assists in creating and updating process and product documentation.
Must have the ability to create and maintain productive working relationships within the work team and with other functions. Collaborates with peers to achieve shared departmental goals.
Collects and documents key measurements and data. Reviews metrics on a regular basis and strives to improve individual and group performance.
Keep work area clean organized and safe.
Fill out time sheets and all other required paperwork accurately and on time.
Keeps training file up to date at all times.
Responsible for performing all duties in compliance with FDA?s Quality System Regulation (QSR), ISO13485, the Canadian Medical Device Regulations, and all other international regulatory requirements with which ZELTIQ complies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Experience, Education, Training, Traits:
High School diploma or equivalent. Vocational instruction training in electromechanical assembly a plus.
5+ years related experience in a high tech, medical device manufacturing environment with experience in using measuring devices such as weight scales and calipers. Also has experience in using and recognizing mechanical hardware, use of epoxies, adhesives and potting compounds.
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions both verbally and in writing.
Good mechanical aptitude, dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Must be able to reach, bend and lift 25 lbs on a daily basis
PC user, familiar with: Word, Excel and Windows
Must be willing to be trained in other areas of production where the skill level requirements may be lower
Knowledge and adherence to safety procedures and programs
Language and Verbal Skills:
Articulate and professional when dealing with both internal and external customers.
Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers and production management.
Ability to clearly and concisely convey production status including accomplishments, obstacles and issues to management.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to use basic mathematics to perform calculations and interpret results/data.
Analytical and Reading Skills:
Ability to define production problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to read production documents and extract important concepts.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee will be required to use a computer for up to 8 hours consecutively. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and be mobile.
The employee may be required to lift up to 25 pounds or move equipment that may weigh in excess of 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some work will be required to be performed where the employee must employ standard techniques to protect against chemical hazards. Some light machining and prototyping activities will involve moderate noise levels (i.e. power drill) and moderate dust or debris exposure.
