This position reports to the engineering manager and is responsible for engineering and related activities associated with ISTD and other thermal remediation projects. This is a senior level position in which you will operate independently or as part of a team on a wide range of project and task assignments.
Typical assignments will include heating and treatment system design and integration, component level detailing, equipment procurement and fabrication, work plan preparation, calculations in support of various permits, as well as data management and reporting. In addition, this position will also require close coordination with and support of field staff that are building and operating systems, including the occasional need for on-site engineering support for construction, startup, and system troubleshooting.
Engineering duties will include preparation of design work plans and drawings, from conceptual design through detailed design. Typical designs include preparation of overall site and wellfield layout, mechanical equipment and piping layout, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, electrical one-line drawings, as well as electrical, steam and other utility calculations. The work will also entail preparing construction and equipment specifications (means and methods) as required.
Additional project and bid support tasks will include preparing material takeoffs and developing equipment schedules, preparing requests for quotes/bids for material vendors and subcontractors, comparing bids and recommending the selection of subcontractors and material vendors.
Perform site visits on new project opportunities to determine the available site power, and utility/facility constraints, collect information regarding construction permits, evaluate potential site support contractors, and assist with preparation of cost estimates.
As necessary, provide on-site construction, installation and operations support, including installation technical support, quality control inspections, and troubleshooting. Field engineering support may include hands on field engineering, supervision of subcontractors, review of daily work production reports, cost, schedule and budget. Communicate issues with project manager or construction manager and client as directed by the project manager.
At least 10 years direct engineering and at least 5 years experience in the remediation business, preferably with some thermal remediation experience
Demonstrated engineering knowledge and skills
Small / start-up company experience Preferred experience in an remediation technology engineering environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD
4-year degree in engineering or related discipline
EIT or PE preferred
Some travel required
