Senior Accountant, A/R Specialist OpsCode

We are looking for an outstanding Senior Accountant to take the lead on A/R at Opscode. This position requires a firm understanding of revenue recognition principals, preferably in the field of software sales.
The Senior Accountant will initially own the revenue area starting with invoicing through month-end revenue reporting. The Senior Accountant will work in a small finance department, and may handle other accounting areas beyond A/R. A strong candidate should therefore have broad experience demonstrating knowledge of finance and accounting concepts and practices. An ideal candidate will also be proactive in suggesting improvements to existing controls and processes. This position is based at our HQ in downtown Seattle.
A commitment to customer service, for both internal and external customers, is essential.
Manage daily operations of AR including invoicing; cash receipts, credit review and collections of past due accounts.
Assist in the monthly closing process from entering journal entries into general ledger and preparing reports to analyzing results.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts for assigned areas to ensure financial statements are complete, accurate and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Review A/R for aging receivables; take appropriate collection measures.
Prepare sales tax and B&O returns.
Aide in customer on-boarding completing forms as requested by potential customers.
Document and maintain accounting procedures and internal controls, and identifies process improvements where appropriate.
Provide support for other accounting functions and back up as needed.
Assist and/or manage special projects, as needed.
Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field, CPA preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressively increasing responsibility in similar accountant role.
Strong Excel skills.
Quickbooks experience a strong plus.
Demonstrates experience in calculating revenue recognition, preferably in a software company context.
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, organizational ability.
Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.
Strong ethics and high level of integrity a must.
Must submit to a background check at hire.
