The Senior Accountant reports to the Assistant Controller and is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, manage the preparation of accurate and timely accounting data and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.
Manage key areas of the monthly financial close to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
Perform monthly and quarterly financial analysis, including review of budget vs. actual variances.
Ensure that the general ledger account reconciliations are performed in a timely manner and that proper controls have been applied.
Perform analysis of key accounts to ensure that proper accounting has been applied.
Manage and report on significant prepaid expense activity and balances.
Work with budget owners to prepare monthly expense accruals.
Analyze and record lease and loan activity and balances.
Perform analysis of accounting estimates.
Assist with consolidation of multiple international entities
Create, document and suggest improvements for processes, policies and procedures.
Assist with the continuous improvement of departmental documentation of and support for financial statement activity and balances.
Assist with the search for additional ways to automate departmental and cross-functional processes.
Assist with the preparation of quarterly and year end SEC filings.
Provide support for quarterly reviews and annual audits by external auditors.
Produce reports for management to enable sound business decisions.
Provide analysis and support for M&A transactions.
Perform special projects as needed.
Provide training and guidance to other staff members.
3-5 years of finance and accounting experience, with a mix of public accounting and private industry
Bachelors degree in accounting or finance, additional MBA a plus
Strong working knowledge of GAAP
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint,Outlook). Knowledge of Great Plains (MS Dynamics) a plus
Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver timely
