As a Senior Business Analyst you are the primary liaison between data and the decision makers who use it. Working with officers and product managers, you provide the critical balance of business acumen and data insight to answer questions, drive business direction and measure business results. You help convert business questions into actionable insights; you know how the business works and how the data works, and you know how to forecast, predict and and help set business direction. You also have the confidence and skills to push back and question the status quo.
Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal customers to analyze information needed and functional requirements desired to deliver actionable recommendations and insights driven by data
Elicit business requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirement reviews, use cases, scenario analysis, business analysis and workflow analysis
Create and automate reports and dashboards that drive the business
Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract low-level information to provide general understanding and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
Work independently and with product owners to create and evaluate new feature ideas and business opportunities through business analysis and data analysis
Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans
Interact professionally with a diverse group including executives, managers, and subject matter experts
Act as liaison between the business units, engineering and data science teams to ensure the right data is captured, useful metrics are measured and business decisions are made by leveraging data
Understand business strategy and objectives and leverage available data to drive new high value business insights
Strong analytical and business skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer data and business metrics to drive toward company goals and objectives
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to i
4 to 6 years of experience in a business analyst role
Strong business acumen (MBA a plus)
Experience with customer acquisition, website conversion funnels and data driven feature analysis
Substantial background in statistics and data visualization
Thorough understanding of web metrics such as DAU, SEM, SEO, retention, churn, engagement, etc.
Expertise in writing/troubleshooting SQL queries
Expertise in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, solver)
Demonstrated skills in business analysis and data-driven decision making
Team-oriented, with ability to work with all functions (product, finance, marketing, engineering)
Experience with web analytics tools like Omniture
Expertise in Tableau or similar visualization tool
Experience with Hive, Pig, R, Matlab, Gehpi or similar
Exposure to machine learning and algorithmic modeling to handle very large data sets
Familiarity with non-relational database frameworks (Hive/Hadoop)
Undergraduate degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, or engineering
MBA with a focus on finance or marketing -- plus a very strong quantitative background
Previous experience with online communities, social networking, gaming, and/or online subscriptions
