Proofpoint is looking for a self-starting, responsible, mature, highly-motivated Senior Field Sales Engineer for our Archiving and eDiscovery product lines. Proofpoint has become a market leader in providing secure and compliant SaaS solutions to global enterprises and is rapidly expanding its footprint into broader eDiscovery and compliance solutions.
The role will demand interaction with large scale enterprises at senior levels, as well as selling to multiple constituents including IT, legal, security, and compliance. The successful candidate will have solid technical experience blended with strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
Proofpoint will consider candidates located in the Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, and Phoenix.
Prepare and perform detailed product demonstrations, technical walkthroughs, proof of concepts and in-production evaluations for prospects
Provide prospects and sales team with technical product advice and demo support during pre-sales discussions
Engage with the customer as the technical lead throughout the pre-sales evaluation cycle
Function as the lead field sales engineer within your own opportunities and serve as the Archiving and eDiscovery specialist for other field sales engineers, as required
Respond to RFPs
Participate in Proofpoint marketing events and trade shows
Deliver training to customers and partners
Drive high levels of customer satisfaction
Be a strong voice for your customers into the Product Management and Engineering teams to improve the product and ensure that Proofpoint deployments are successful
Coordinate with multiple parties ? internal departments as well as the customer ? to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution to technical issues
Engage with newly signed enterprise customers as a Proofpoint product expert to implement Proofpoint solutions at their sites. Implementation activities include installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customization, testing, and documentation.
6+ years sales engineering experience
Sales engineering or implementation experience with Exchange-compatible Archiving/eDiscovery solutions, especially SaaS-based solutions
Working knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008, IIS and Microsoft Exchange/Active Directory
An understanding of email and related Internet protocols (SMTP, POP3, IMAP4, LDAP, HTTP, etc.)
Familiarity with TCP/IP networking and components (firewalls, proxies, routers, load balancers, etc.)
Must have a good understanding of the sales process and the roles and responsibilities of a sales engineer
Prior experience in selling Email Archiving & eDiscovery software to Fortune 500 or other large companies
Experience administering and deploying large scale messaging, Archiving and eDiscovery systems is a plus
Strong technical presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
Must be able to thrive in a fast paced, high stress start up environment
Ability to work independently and adapt quickly
4 year college degree or equivalent experience
Ability to travel 25-75%
Experience working in a remote office
