Deeya Energy develops innovative flow battery systems for energy storage and is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to assist in advancing and improving their technology. The candidate should have a background in engineering, preferably with flow batteries or fuel cells or at least been exposed to chemical and electrochemical systems..
Responsibilities will include the design of the next generation Deeya flow battery and system as well as improvements on the existing ESP3 product line. The candidate will have key role in driving concepts through the engineering phase to arrive at a product that meets all specifications.
Knowledge of battery performance and behavior, electrical power systems, fluid dynamics, grid applications will contribute to your success in this role. Additionally, the ability work with cross-functional teams, part of whom are overseas, to develop and extend the understanding of battery behavior is equally important.
Roles & Responsibilities
Design flow battery hardware and flow battery system balance of plant, per systems requirement specification (SRS)
Perform engineering analysis, including thermal and stress calculations, pressure and flow calculations, and material compatibility
Perform Design Reviews to validate and solicit input from organization on new stack designs and product concepts
Size, select, and source components
Manage subcontractors and their delivery of components and designs on time and to specification
Prepare high quality engineering drawings
Be responsible for best practices in DFM, critical design development and will be expected to manage risks in projects relating to battery design analysis and development
Be expected to prepare for and lead formal design reviews with the larger Deeya energy storage team
Be expected to adhere to Deeya?s product development process (PDP)
Skill & Experience
Proficient with CAD modeling tools such as Solidworks and ProE
Experience with DFM and GDT
Experience with flow and mechanical modeling tools a plus
Minimum of 5 years in industry, with direct experience designing parts and systems that integrate electronics, fluids, and thermal devices
Successful track record of delivering development goals on time and on budget
Experience in chemical and electrochemical devices is an advantage
BS or MS in ME, Material Science or other related technical field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in industry in a ME role, preferably in a flow battery or fuel cell environment
Excellent communication skills to gather and present ideas to and from a wide-ranging audience and customers
