Senior Tax Manager Vertafore, Inc.
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Reporting to the VP, Controller, the Senior Tax Manager will lead the corporate tax department and be responsible for all tax planning, consulting, and implementation of strategies for business structure, new products, business transactions, and compliance for income and sales taxes.
This position will assist with and manage highly technical projects performed both within the company and by outsource providers. The Senior Tax Manager must be able to communicate concepts and expertise to the VP, Controller, senior management, and other interested parties to facilitate strategic planning and achievement of business objectives.
Responsibilities will include:
Reviews and prepares of ASC 740 workpapers, including financial statement footnote disclosures, and coordinates with independent auditors.
Provides long-term cash flow projections for income taxes to finance department for strategic modeling.
Provides quarterly tax rate information for board of directors and senior management.
Reviews internally-prepared consolidated federal income tax return
Reviews State and local income, franchise, and excise tax returns (including estimated payments and extensions) for multiple entities in all 50 states, over 80 returns filed in all.
Coordinates with external accountants with regards to income tax reporting requirements in foreign locations (currently 1 country)
Oversees state and local income tax audits, including research of pertinent issues and negotiation with auditors
Reviews sales and use, excise and property tax returns
Actively monitors statutory and regulatory changes in sales tax treatment of electronically-delivered software, especially Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), and provides updates to sales tax matrix utilized by customer billing group.
Advises on sales tax risks, exposures, and opportunities in the rapidly changing world of SaaS.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
7-10 years of progressively responsible work experience in corporate tax, preferably with a high growth, fast-paced technology company.
Solid understanding of federal and state tax law.
Must be able to impact, and influence business leaders by utilizing tax expertise and understanding of the business.
Must have a ?roll up your sleeves? approach, be highly analytical and forward thinking. This is a role that requires resourcefulness, strategic thinking and exceptional leadership skills to add value to the short and long term business planning aspects of the company as part of the senior leadership team.
Ability to manage multiple initiatives and competing priorities.
Strong written and oral communication, problem solving and analytical skills, as well as strong attention to detail. A person who can be effective and persuasive across multiple disciplines and across all levels of the company. Must be a strong team player.
A polished professional comfortable interacting with senior executives. A track record of success functioning as a partner to the various senior executives.
Strong technical skills including advanced knowledge of Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Bachelor?s Degree in accounting or finance is required; Masters in Tax and/or CPA is preferred.
