2U is launching a new partnership with a prestigious, top ranked University to offer a graduate level degree in Data Science. We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Admissions to lead and manage the admissions/student recruitment efforts for this program. The primary responsibility of this position will be to execute best practices and build the admissions team during the early stages of establishing the new program. The Sr. Manager, Admissions will work with the VP, Admissions to hire the admissions team for this program, implement and execute strategies to grow and scale the program to the goals established for the first year of the program. Additionally, the Sr. Manager, Admissions will be responsible for attaining the admissions goals established by company management, specifically using motivational and coaching techniques. This position will require understanding of the technical nature of the degree and how best to present this program to prospective students.
In addition, this position corresponds with internal cross-functional teams on all aspects concerning the selection of new students and ensures the admissions process is in accordance with that of the partner university.
Primary duties include but are not limited to:
Learning all operational aspects of the admissions department and becoming an expert on programs and processes, including working as an admissions counselor as a part of the his/her training process
Developing creative and effective methods to motivate and encourage the team to meet goals set by management
Acting as coach and manager to personnel
Assisting with day-to-day operations in admissions including managing scheduling, attendance, etc.
Ensuring consistent operation of department in accordance with all university policies
Providing management with performance accurate and frequent reports related to enrollment activities
Working in conjunction with the Admissions Training team to effectively train and onboard new admissions counselors and identify skill gaps of current counselors
Education and Professional Experience
Bachelor?s degree required; degree in data science, math or statistics related field strongly preferred
At least 5 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
Previous management experience in an admissions or sales focused environment is a plus
Strong sales and customer service background
Proven ability to manage a team of highly educated, professional staff
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, inclusive of Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Proven ability to lead a team to achieving defined results, and exceeding goals and objectives
Strong leadership skills
Ability to maintain a fun, casual, professional and productive team atmosphere
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate in a courteous, tactful, and concise manner
Ability to make bring out other people?s potential/talents
Ability to work with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment
Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change
